Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves on a routine drive over Chinook pass to be sure the the majestic view that takes over is real. For Tim, this scene appears on weekly (and sometimes daily) commute, back and forth from East to West. For me, it’s a breathtaking reminder that the stillness of nature can quiet even the loudest of stressors.
All too often, before moving to Elk Ridge, we would discuss our campground with friends, neighbors, acquaintances, strangers….. whomever would listen, only to find out that a very large number of the population does not know about or have ever heard of Chinook Pass. Navigational terms and directions just don’t do the picture perfect mount pass justice. There are no words…..
I think it’s time we spread the news, don’t you? After all, good things are meant to be shared.
Taken this morning, the above picture is at Tipsoo lake, located at the summit of Chinook Pass on State Route 410. In the “distance”, Mount Rainier. Continue over the top and in less than 30 minutes you’ll reach milepost 103 and Elk Ridge Campground. Come on over for a visit, and bring your camera; you’ll be glad you did!
